The establishment of a variety of activities and events would greatly benefit the community of Burringbar. The area is rich in community spirit, and activities such as these will provide a public platform to show this spirit off. A mixture of both large and small initiatives, this plethora of proposed activities and events celebrate the local community and the natural surrounding environment, hence, promoting the development concept.

Suggested initiatives include:

  • regular local farmers and crafts markets held at either the central park or campground

  • gourmet whole food cooking classes and dining experiences

  • open garden events and agricultural education exhibitions at the TAFE, educating and encouraging people to grow their own whole foods

  • gourmet “Dining in the Park” afternoons

  • a small, country/folk music festival held at either the central park or campground

  • sporting events between the Tweed Valley towns and within the Burringbar community  such as hockey competitions, touch football and all ages barefoot bowls

  • fundraising marathons/walks along the railway track

  • the introduction of lights in the park trees at night, providing atmosphere
