Burringbar's community infrastructure includes a community hall (school or arts), sports club, a primary school, fire brigade, parks, mobile library, war memorials, and a community noticeboard at the general store.

Different community groups use the community hall for cooking classes such as cheese making, craft making, weddings and other gatherings. The sports club offers lawn bowls, soccer, touch football, cricket, home to a fishing club, taekwondo, a bistro, and Burringbar is particularly known for hockey. Both the hall and the sports club are owned and managed by Trusts whereby the community volunteers their time for their upkeep.

The local school is only for years Kindergarten to year 6. Children tend to go to Murwillimbah for their secondary education.

The mobile library comes to Burringbar every second Wednesday.

The RSL club adjacent to the community hall was sold for investment and the small RSL club now uses the fire station for their meetings.

Public transport is minimal. The railway running through town closed in 2004. There is school bus transport only via Parsons Bus Company but the main access in/out of Burringbar is by private vehicle via Tweed Valley Way running into Murwillimbah and towards the Pacific Hwy, or Upper Burringbar Rd.
